PART 11 Being LIGHT
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” [Matt. 5:14-16]
Questions: Is Christ’s light within me flickering (unsteady) or burning brightly? Has someone tried to snuff out Jesus’ light within me?
“He (Jesus) will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. Finally, He will cause justice to be victorious.” [Matt. 12:20]
Our Lord and Saviour brings justice to all who have been wronged. If His light within us is dim, we can ask Him to help us fan the small spark within us into a bright, wonderful flame for Him. Repentance and letting go off our own wills, surrendering to Him, helps the flame He started in us, to burn brighter. Daily prayer and studying the Bible ignite and stimulate our flickering lights to become a blaze of Christ’s glory.
Dear Jesus, thank You that the kind of lights you desire for us to be, is to free the chains of injustice and lessen the burdens of others, to share our food with the hungry and to provide the poor with shelter, that when we see the naked, to clothe them, and not turn away from our own flesh and blood. Then our lights will break forth like the dawn, and our healing will quickly appear; then our righteousness will go before us, and the glory of the LORD will be our rear guard/protect us. [From Isaiah 58:6-8]
“Words which do not give the light of Christ increase the darkness.” [Mother Teresa]
