What does it mean to TRUST someone? Some synonyms for “trust” = faith, hope, belief, conviction, reliance, and dependence. Some of us have had our trust in others shaken or broken. When someone promises to do something for us, and then does not do so, our reliance and confidence in them are destroyed. Some of us cannot trust those who have wounded or hurt us, and we might no longer feel secure in our relationships.
Whatever wounds we have received from others, whatever disappointments we have had in life, there is One Who remains faithful and very trustworthy. He will never fail us when we trust totally in Him. Romans 10:13 says, “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. The LOVE OF GOD IS TRUSTWORTHY.”
Numbers 23:19 states, “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfil?” Our precious loving Father God always keeps His promises to us! Maybe He might withhold something from us for our own good because He sees the future more clearly than we ever could see it. He loves us so much that He gave His One and Only Son to die in our stead – THAT is sacrificial love…a love that gives ALL! Deuteronomy 7:9 “Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.
God is the very definition of truth. In John 14:6, Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Me.” God inspired the words in the Bible, so every word in it is dependable and genuine. Revelation 21:5 says, “And the One sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then He said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.”
Thank you, dearest Lord, that I can trust You in every area of my life. Please forgive me when I have doubted Your love for me, when I have felt disillusioned in others, when I have trusted in my own feelings and not in You. Thank you that your love is always trustworthy, that I can feel secure, safe, and beloved in Your bosom of gracious, significant love. “Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for You created all things; by Your will they exist and came to be.” [Rev. 4:11] We love You and trust in Your infinite love!
