GOD IS OUR PROVIDER

What are your specific needs today? Your needs could be for health or enough finances to pay the bills, or maybe you need to make restitution with someone. You might need peace, joy, and spiritual growth. Whatever your needs are, there is Some One who is willing to help you. Phil. 4:19 says, “My God shall supply all your needs, according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Notice that it says “needs” and not “greeds.

Father God sees what we need the most and He comes to our aid when we call upon Him for help. History has many testimonies from Believers who have found Father God to be “Jehovah Jireh,” our Lord the Provider. The name, “Jehovah Jireh,” first came from the Book of Genesis 22, when the Lord told Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac on Mount Moriah. When Isaac asked Abraham where the lamb for the offering was, Abraham told him, “God will PROVIDE for Himself the lamb.” When they got to the mountain, and Abraham was about to sacrifice Isaac, God DID provide a ram, right there, caught in the thicket, and Abraham sacrificed that ram instead of his son. Genesis 22:14 says, “Abraham called the name of that place ‘The Lord will provide,’” or “YHWH-Jireh,” or “Jehovah Jireh” — “The LORD the Provider.”

When my late husband died, my two children and I had to move to a very large mission station where I was teaching at that time. I lived by faith, receiving no salary for the first 5 years, and very little afterwards. But our Lord provided for ALL of our needs, also for the full 14 years we lived there. I learned that God’s faithfulness is our security! We need never fear the future, or illness, or poverty, or war or tribulations.

1 Timothy 6:17 says, “Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to PUT their HOPE IN GOD, who RICHLY PROVIDES us with everything for our enjoyment.” Where is your hope and joy centred? Who provides what you need the most? We might have good work or others who care for us materially. Many countries look well after those who are homeless or in need. But Christ is our true hope and our greatest Provider for ALL we need. In this world where so many covet more possessions and worldly things, it is difficult to remember that we cannot take anything with us to heaven one day – only ourselves and those we lead to Christ.

May our hearts be directed, with deep gratitude, upon our Lord who is the ONLY One who truly provides for us. Only He can help us have salvation, forgiveness, joy, love, peace, and eternity in heaven.

Faithful and loving God, thank You that You are the One in whom we can find our identities, our values, security, and future. You have blessed us and provided for us in so many ways! Please help us to place our trust in

You and not in earthly possessions. Help us to realize that we are dependent upon You for every breath we take. You are coming soon, blessed Lord Jesus! Help us to focus on our Permanent Home and not on earthly tribulations and matters.
