Psalm 103:1-5 says – “Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
And Psalm 147:7 says – “ Sing to the Lord with grateful praise…”
We should praise Him not only for His deeds but also because He is so wonderful!
1 Chronicles 16:34: – “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”
Psalm 145:3: “Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.”
Psalm 150:1-5 states – “Praise the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”
Continue praising God in all situations. 1 Thess. 5:18 says – “…give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Hebrews 13:15 says – ”Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.”
Something happens when we praise God:
– God will answer – He will not remain silent.
– God can reveal something to us.
– God will bring comfort to us.
– Fear will flee and we can trust God (Psalm 56:4)
– God can send someone to help us.
– God can allow us to realize something He needs us to understand.
– Gad can bring deliverance, healing, and He can fulfill our needs.
– God can place us in a position where we belong and are used for Him.
– God can fulfill His promises to us
– When we praise, many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in Him (Psalm 40:3)
– We can experience victories in the spiritual realm… (cf. Jericho and some other wars Israel had)
Psalm 149:6-9 says – “ May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron, to carry out the sentence written against them – this is the glory of all his faithful people. Praise the Lord!”
We join the heavenly worship with Revelation 4:9-11 – “Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”
This needs to be our daily prayer as proclaimed in Psalm 104:33: “ I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.”
