PART 6 – The MERCIFUL

“Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.” [Matt. 5:7] Mercy is one of the fruits that flourish when one seeks Christ’s righteousness.

Questions: Do you consider yourself a merciful, compassionate person? Do you have a heart for those in need?

Synonyms for mercy = Pity, kindness, sympathy, understanding, gracious, forgiving, tender hearted…

“God is rich in mercy.” (Eph. 2:4) and “His mercy is on them that fear Him” (Luke 1:50). If we desire to receive mercy, we need to give mercy. Jesus showed His mercy to us by giving His life for us. This mercy, grace, and love which He gives so generously, we in turn need to give to others.

Proverbs 11:17 states, “Those who are kind/merciful benefit themselves but the cruel bring ruin to themselves” “…because judgement without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful.” (James 2:13)

Loving merciful Jesus, please give me a merciful heart that can be an extension of Your grace, compassion, and mercy to those in need, whether it be emotional, spiritual, or material needs. Please open my eyes to the many who are suffering from a lack of receiving mercy.”

“We make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give.” (Sir Winston Churchill)
