The Hebrew name for our faithful God is “El Emet”, which means truth, genuine sincerity, faithfulness, trustworthiness, and dependability. The God who was faithful in the Old Testament, is the same God who is faithful today. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8)
Even when the Israelites grumbled about their conditions in Egypt when they were in slavery, God remained faithful to them and released them. Note Deuteronomy 7:9 which says, “Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations…”
When Joseph was badly treated by others in Gen. 37 – 50, he trusted in Father God’s faithfulness and eventually became a great ruler in Egypt and saved the lives of thousands from perishing hunger.
The apostle Paul’s life is also a wonderful example of how God stood by him faithfully once he turned his life over to Jesus and served Him devotedly. The word “FAITH” is the root word for faithfulness. We need to place our faith totally in our loving Lord to enable us to rely upon His faithfulness. Paul wrote in 2 Thessalonians 3:3 – “But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.”
Lamentations 3:22–23 states, “The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” God remains faithful even when we are faithless. “…if we are faithless, he remains faithful— for He cannot deny himself.” 2 Tim. 2:13
God helps us when we cry out to Him. He will always come to our rescue, as 1 Corinthians 10:13 utters, “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. GOD IS FAITHFUL, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation He will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” “But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.
2 Thess. 3:3
Loving precious Lord, thank You that If we confess our sins, that You are “faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 Thank You that we can “hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” Heb. 10:23 Thank You that You show steadfast love to thousands of those who love You and keep Your commandments. Deut.5:10 “Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the
clouds.” Psalm 36:5 You, our precious Lord God, are an unending Fountain of faithful love and grace. Please help me to never take You for granted but to love and serve You faithfully now and forever, Amen.
