OASIS IN THE DESERT

Are you currently maybe in a difficult situation? Do you sometimes feel
dry spiritually, as if your prayers do not reach God?

Almighty Father God is our oasis during our desert times. Isaiah 35:5 -9
says, “Blind eyes will be opened, deaf ears unstopped, Lame men and
women will leap like deer, the voiceless break into song. Springs of water
will burst out in the wilderness, streams flow in the desert. Hot sands will
become a COOL OASIS, thirsty ground a splashing fountain. Even lowly
jackals will have water to drink, and barren grasslands flourish richly.
There will be a highway called the Holy Road. No one rude or rebellious is
permitted on this road. It`s for God`s  people exclusively…Nothing and no
one dangerous or threatening. Only the redeemed will walk on it.”

The context of Isaiah 35 is the salvation, mercy and love God offers us,
the return of His people from exile, and the transformation of the
wilderness into a well-watered garden of rejoicing. An Oasis is a small
fertile or green area in a desert region, usually having a spring or well,
serving as a refuge, relief, and respite after travelling in sun-scorched, dry
areas.

Even if you feel as if you have been like parched earth, barren and
unfruitful, scorched with the sun; God’s grace, righteousness and love are
available. We can come to Him and be refreshed like springs in the desert.
The original word “oasis” came from Latin. From the Coptic language it
means a dwelling place” which is beautiful and assuring. Jesus is our
Oasis, our Dwelling Place from storms in life. Read Psalm 91:1-2

The “highway” Isaiah speaks of above, refers to Jesus coming for His
redeemed. At that time there will be a highway that leads to Jesus and
The Promised Land, called “The Highway of Holiness.” We ALL need to be
on that highway. As we journey on this Highway, we become more Christ-
like, more like our Good Shepherd while God, in His loving grace, changes
us, renews us, and becomes our oasis where we can “leap like a deer” for
joy, and quench our thirst when we drink Christ’s Living waters which flow
freely to us when we seek Him earnestly.

Precious Holy Father God, thank You for being our Oasis, not only when
we need You, but in all everyday things in life. Thank You that You desire
us to walk on Your Highway, and that You refresh and replenish us on the
way. We praise and worship You that You are our Highway. You are our
Oasis and resting place. We love You exceedingly. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
