“Blessed/happy are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons (and daughters) of God.” [Matt.5:9]
The word “peace” (shalom) occurs more than 250 times in the Bible. The root word in Greek is eiréné, meaning well-being and completeness, having a peaceful mind irrespective of external circumstances. In the Old Testament, Father God is described as Peace. In the New Testament, we get peace through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Questions: Is Jesus your peace? Are you able to maintain your peace and help others find peace, even during difficult times?
“Jesus is our “wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of peace.” [Isaiah 9:6] He says to you, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you. I do not give as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” [John 14:27]
“For He (Jesus) is our peace.” [Eph. 2:14a] When we are anxious, distressed, or afraid, know that there is One who keeps His peace and tells you during hardships, like He did the disciples when they were in a huge storm on the sea, “Peace! Be still!” [Mark 4:39] Christ can, and will, calm your troubled mind or soul. All you need to do is to “cast your burden on the Lord and He will sustain you.” [Psalm 55:22]
Thank You precious Father, that You are our peace. Thank You that You are “not a God of confusion, but of peace.” [1 Cor. 14:33]. You are my peace and my security; I need not be afraid. Amen
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:7)
