Sometimes we think our hearts are at peace, but if we get bad news about ourselves or our loved ones’ health, or we experience difficult finances or tough work situations, we find our hearts panic. Even reading about today’s current world situations might remove our peace.
Are you often anxious or troubled? What gives perfect peace? What removes fear from our hearts so that peace can abide and thrive in us?
Phil. 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the PEACE OF GOD, which transcends all understanding, will GUARD your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Isaiah 26:3 states, “You keep him/her in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he/she trusts in you.” “Stayed” here means fixed or focused, so when we firmly set our eyes on Jesus, He, the Prince of Peace, gives us perfect, whole, and complete peace. His peace drives away fear and anxiety.
Precious Father God, thank You that You tell us in Psalm 119:165, that “Abundant peace belongs to those who love Your instruction; nothing can make them stumble.” Please help me to discipline myself to daily dwell richly in Your given instructions found in Your Word, the Bible. Thank You that I can trust You to keep me under the shadow of Your wings where I am safe, secure, loved and at peace.
