STRENGTHENING OUR FAITH

If you feel you have little faith, remember that you need only have faith as small as a mustard seed and to look to Jesus in ALL situations to have some measure of faith. But little faith needs to develop into bigger faith. Romans 10:17 says, “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” The Word of God, the Bible, feeds our faith. When we read it, we “hear” what He wants to teach us, also when we listen to sermons and spiritual teachings.

Hebrews 11:6 states, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Faith is a life of action. We need to have faith that believes we need not worry. Jesus tells us in John 14:1, “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me.” Faith is trusting the Lord to do what He thinks is best for us. We need to walk by faith and not by sight [2 Cor. 5:7] which means we must focus our eyes on what is eternal – “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” (2 Cor. 4:18, NIV).

Often spiritual faith develops beautifully when we undergo trials and suffering. “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the TESTING OF YOUR FAITH produces perseverance/ steadfastness /endurance.” (James 1:2-4)

Jesus is our Anchor. When the storms of life hit us, we need to cling to God and His promises with great faith. The world and its standards change continuously, but the Word of the Lord stands forever. If our faith is set upon the things of this world, then our faith will perish.  Jesus said in Matt.24:35, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.” The Word of God remains steadfast and sure. It is dependable and we must not only read it, but also meditate (think) on it.

Precious Lord Jesus, please strengthen my faith. Help me to pray with the assurance that You have a righteous outcome for me. Abba Father, You remain holy and righteous, regardless of what takes place in the world; You still remain in control! You make a way where there seems to be no way, like parting the Red Sea so the Israelites could walk across to the other side as if on dry land. Please part the obstacles in my path and help me to have the faith that You are in control. Please calm the storms in my life. Thank You that Psalm 147:4 says that You determine the number of the stars and call them each by name. You also know my name and You tenderly tell me to have faith, that You have loving compassion on me and that I can trust You even if I cannot trust anyone else. In Jesus precious Name, Amen
