PART 7 – PURITY
“Blessed/happy are the PURE in HEART for they shall SEE GOD.” Matt. 5:8 Question: Do I allow pure thoughts and motives to control my heart? Do I strive to be pure as Christ is pure? Where/what are my treasures?
True Christ-like purity in life is enmity to the media which influences us daily because it is all around us. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for from it flows the springs of life/it determines the course of your life.”
How can a man/woman stay on the path of purity? Psalm 119:9 replies that we need to live according to God’s Word, the Bible, conforming our lives to Christ’s teachings and His standards. Matt.6:21 states, “Where your treasures are, there your heart is.” Make sure you “store up treasures in heaven and not on earth.” [Matt. 6:20]
The reward of a pure heart will be to see Jesus one day in Eternity. Father God calls us to “be holy as He is holy.” [1 Peter 1:13-16]. Matt. 5:48 says, “Be perfect even as your Father in Heaven is perfect.”
Being holy and perfect seem impossible to achieve, but with God ALL things are possible. We are not clothed in our righteousness, but in Christ’s righteousness. He can help us when we call out to Him!
Precious Jesus, please help me to put off my old self which belongs to my former manner of life. Assist me to strive towards purity as I study your Word and try to live in obedience to it. Help me to put on my new self, and to live in Your righteousness. May Your love rule my heart, my mouth, my life, and my thoughts. Amen.
