What burdens are you carrying right now? What deep waters are you going through? These days I listened to a beautiful old hymn which says, “Burdens are lifted at Calvary – Jesus is there with me.” Yes, Jesus is not only with us constantly, but He is also our Burden Bearer Who gave His life voluntarily at Calvary, because of His beautiful deep love for us. We can trust Him to carry our burdens and do the impossible for us.
When we feel weak, He is strong. Psalm 28:7 says, “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. Therefore, my heart rejoices, and I give thanks to Him in song.”
Often our burdens are lifted when we start thanking and praising our Lord for His many blessings. He draws near to us when we draw near to Him.
I remember one day very clearly, when I was a missionary teacher in S. Korea. I felt very homesick and had much sorrow because two loved ones of mine died back in S. Africa. My grief was so intense that I wanted to weep in Father God’s Bosom of love. As I cycled home from school that day, I felt compelled to count my many blessings and I asked Father God to be there for me when I opened my small apartment door. When I unlocked my door, He met me and I fell into His embrace of love, where I felt safe, secure, and very much loved, where I could weep with combined sorrow and joy as I cast all my burdens onto my Beloved Burden Bearer.
Thank You precious King Jesus, that You say to each one of us in Matt. 11:28, ““Come to me, all of you who are weary (tired) and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” And in Jer. 31:25 Abba God says, “…for I will refresh the weary soul and replenish all who are weak.” Thank You that You restore and revive us when we need it most and when we come to You for rest. Thank You that we can say, “But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. [Psalm 3:3] Thank You that You never leave me nor forsake me, that you are always with me through the sweet presence of the Holy Spirit. I love You my Blessed Burden Bearer and my caring Good Shepherd! Amen
