When facing any season of life, it is important to think biblically. Charles Spurgeon wrote, “The seasons change, and you change, but the Lord abides evermore the same, and the streams of His love are as deep, as broad and as full as ever.”
How blessed we are that for every season in life there is an answer or help from the Word of God. When we are worried, God tells us in Phil. 4:6, “Do NOT BE ANXIOUS about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Maybe we are fearful about something. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God gave us a spirit NOT of fear but of power and love and self-control.” Or perhaps we are lonely and concerned about the future or getting old. Isaiah 46:4 states, “Even to your old age and grey hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.’
God’s Word is precious and overflowing with promises, blessings, guidance, and comfort. It empowers us to live righteous lives using the presence of the sweet Holy Spirit to instruct us. What season of life are you in right now? God is perfectly in control of all that takes place, including the timing of our seasons in life. In Ecclesiastes 3:11 it says, “He (God) has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” Even if we sometimes do not understand what our Lord desires from us, we can trust His love and guidance.
Sometimes we get tired of doing good, but Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
Now and then we get tired of waiting for answers to our prayers. Isaiah 58:11 says, “The Lord will guide you CONTINUALLY, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.” And Psalm 27:14 – “Wait for the Lord. Be strong. Let your heart be strong. Yes, wait for the Lord.”
Heavenly Father – May our “cries/prayers come before You, Oh Lord; give us understanding according to Your Word.” (Psalm 119:169) We love You and thank You! Please “teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12) Thank You that we can depend upon You no matter what season of life we are in. You made seasons and You are also in charge of our human seasons and weaknesses. Thank You that You are the same, yesterday, today, and forever. [Heb. 13:8] Amen
