“Divine” means Godly, heavenly, lovely, delightful, marvellous, and so much more. Divine love is the greatest love of all loves! It is a love which demonstrates its holiness by what it is and does. God proved His love by giving His most precious Gift to mankind – Jesus. “For God SO loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” [John 3:16]

We all probably know that verse off by heart, but do we truly grasp its depth and sacrificial love? Remember how Abraham felt when God told him to sacrifice his son Isaac on the altar? Abraham tasted a little bit of what Father God must have felt when He sacrificed Jesus on the Cross, to pay a debt He did not owe, to release us from the slavery of sin and its consequences. God loves you so much, that His divine and gracious love gave His very best – Jesus, His one and only Son. The song “When I survey the wondrous cross…” has a section which says – “Love so amazing, so divine – demands my soul, my life, my all!”

Are we honestly prepared to give ALL to this divine love? Are we prepared to die to self and to say to Abba Father God like Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane; ““Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” [Luke 22:42]

What suffering are you going through right now? Is your cup [life] overwhelmed with sorrows or hardships? Jesus shows us the way. We too need to pray to our Lord, saying; – “Not my will but YOURS, my Father.” As soon as we cast our burdens totally onto Jesus, as soon as we seek His will above ours, His Divine, loving will comes into action and He does what is needed to bring about our good and joy, and His will and glory. “God SO LOVED the world…” Embrace that fact – He loves! Oh yes, He loves you like nobody else can!

Precious Father, please forgive me when I have doubted your wonderful divine love, a love that is the greatest power and gift any human can ever experience. Help me to grasp this love with every fibre of my being so I can also sing sincerely – “Love so amazing, so divine, demands/claims my soul, my life, my ALL!” In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.
